Today is Giving Tuesday, and we’re raring to go!

Did you know that since the 1990s, the journalism industry has lost more jobs than coal mining, and venture capital firms and big media chains now own daily newspapers in every state except Maine? And we’re working hard to keep it that way by diversifying how we fund the local journalism our readers rely on. Increasingly, many independent local newsrooms in the U.S. are turning to community giving and philanthropy to support public-service journalism that delivers local, factual information needed to make informed decisions. 

Over the last two years, more than 1200 people have stepped forward with donations to personally support BDN accountability and community reporting.

Together, let's raise $25,000 on Giving Tuesday to fund independent local reporting at the Bangor Daily News, and keep Maine the way news should be.
