Starvation is threatening millions

“People are eating leaves because they have no other form of sustenance”

Dear Supporter,

The strip of red you can see in the photo above is a devastating sight for a parent.

It means your child is suffering from severe malnutrition and – without immediate treatment – is unlikely to survive.

Supporter, I am writing to you as a matter of urgency about the crisis in Yemen, where almost half the country is now “one step away from catastrophe”, according to the UN.

Around 14 million Yemenis are facing imminent starvation, most of them children. More than 2 million people have been uprooted from their homes by the conflict, and are now struggling to survive on the streets or in informal camps.

Supporter, will you please make an emergency donation to help UNHCR rush more life-saving aid to Yemen? Donate now >>

Your gift will help displaced families buy food, as well as receive life-saving medical treatment, clean water, safe shelter and essential items like sleeping mats and blankets.

SEND HELP NOW
Time is running out to help these desperate families. The UN’s Chief Humanitarian Coordinator, Mark Lowcock, has just returned from Yemen. He says:

“People are eating leaves because they have no other form of sustenance… In Aden, I met emaciated children so malnourished they could barely open their eyes.”

Supporter, as always it is your generosity that makes UNHCR’s work possible. Given the sheer scale of the emergency in Yemen, the only way we can continue to help families survive is with your support.
DONATE NOW
Supporter, as a supporter of our emergency appeals in the past, I am calling on your compassion and generosity once again. The people of Yemen need you. Please help us get life-saving aid on the ground before it is too late for children and families already at crisis point.

Thank you.

National Director
