Webinar Archive: Helping Our Youngest ELLs Succeed In and Out of School (PreK-5)

What can teachers, school staff, and administrators do to help students academically and to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for young ELLs? What kind of language supports should they be providing? This 2024 Share My Lesson Virtual Conference session offers strategies educators can use in a variety of settings. Available for one hour of free PD credit.

National Farmworker Awareness Week: March 25-31, 2024

National Farmworker Awareness Week honors migrant farmworkers' important contributions and raises awareness of issues they face. César Chávez Day honors the legacy of the civil rights leader on his birthday, March 31.

Two upcoming events include the following:

Resources for Educators: Partnering with Migrant Farmworker Students and Families

Educators who work with migrant farmworker students have a unique opportunity to make a significant difference for their students, even if they only work together for a short time. Learn more about migrant students’ strengths, their challenges, and how to provide them with opportunities for success.

 

Video: How migrant education prepared me for success

High School Math Teacher Jorge Bermudez shares his family's experience in a migrant education program and how it paved the way for his future success.

What is not included in this video is the story about how his father went on to complete his education and eventually became a professor of Latin American literature!

In addition, she is the first Latina to be inducted into the Teachers Hall of Fame.
