September 13, 1971

Australia's international carrier, Qantas, made plans to enter the low-fare market to combat the current slump in passenger travel. By polishing its marketing organization, and maintaining a cautious approach to further expansion and equipment acquistion (including the supersonic Concorde transport), it hoped to establish a subsidiary airline to combat losses on charter carriers.
