Surviving Jeffrey Epstein – A conversation with the film’s directors, Annie Sundberg and Ricki Stern

He was an attractive and successful financier who was extremely wealthy and even better connected. He moved in social circles with presidents and royalty.

But the notoriously mysterious billionaire was hiding a horrifying secret that spanned three decades and included sex trafficking, sexual abuse and a reign of pure terror.

On 10 August 2019, Jeffrey Epstein was found hanging in his jail cell, more than 14 years after police in Palm Beach, Florida first launched an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse against him.

The businessman used his connections, money, and power to elude authorities in what is now known as the most widespread abuse scandal in history.

In this conversation with Ricki and Annie, News24’s Lifestyle and Entertainment Editor, Herman Eloff, asks the directors of the new Lifetime docu-series Surviving Jeffrey Epstein how they put together the complex story, what legal challenges they faced, and what impact working on the documentary had on them.
