Bird Bath Rebate Bunuru is the hottest part of the year when it’s particularly important for wildlife to have a safe place to drink and bathe. Through the City’s Habitat for Homes program Cockburn residents can receive a 50% rebate (up to $50) towards the cost of a bird bath. The program encourages residents to create habitats in their homes by growing native gardens and having bird baths for native animals to find shelter and food. |

Sustainability & Environmental Education Grants The City offers a range of grants for the community to support ideas that help create a better tomorrow. Sustainability and environmental education grants range from $1,000-$4,000 and can be used for a variety of projects. Grants open 14 February and close 25 March.Sustainability Grants Program provides funding for projects in Cockburn relating to six sustainability themes. Small businesses, schools, not-for-profits, and collective households can apply. Successful applicants can apply for up to $4,000 towards the project. Environmental Education for Schools Grant is a financial support program for schools within the City of Cockburn to engage environmental and sustainability educators to deliver programs. This practical service, suitable for home owners and renters, will identify areas of your home and garden where electricity, gas and water can be reduced, saving you money and helping our environment! During this in-home audit (or via Zoom), our Home Eco Auditor will provide tailored advice to help you find ways to reduce water and energy in your home and garden, plus you may receive hardware to help you on your sustainable living journey. |

Great Cocky Count Workshop In the lead up to the annual Great Cocky Count on Sunday 2 April, the City of Cockburn in partnership with BirdLife Australia are running a workshop to help you get involved.
At this workshop you will learn about Black Cockatoo conservation, the aims of the Great Cocky Count and how to identify cockatoos in the wild. Workshop will provide training on roost count methods and includes a practice roost count.

Operation Rainbow Roost Rainbow Lorikeets are a declared pest in WA, with their numbers exploding since introduction in the 1960s, increasing from 10 individuals to over 40,000. Rainbow Lorikeets are a threat to local species and cause an estimated $3 million worth of damage to fruit crops each year. Calculating the overall population of the species helps us understand more about the scale of the issue. You can help: Operation Rainbow Roost will occur between 23 February and the 1st of March at sunset (approximately 6:30pm to 7:30pm). Please register before 16 February 2022. |
