Fisheries Minister Don Punch has moved to ban shark fishing at metropolitan beaches. - The ban would apply from the City of Joondalup through to Mandurah and at various locations along the Swan River in the metropolitan area. The Minister said he was also working with the City of Cockburn to bring in new shark-fishing beach laws.
Perth councils are being encouraged to divert waste from landfill, with the State Government to increase the waste levy from July next year. - Western Australia's waste levy rate will be $85 per tonne from 1 July 2024.
