What to Expect From Stowe Bowl

When the bowling alley opens on Mountain Road in January, the beers will be craft and local (as will the cocktails), and the food will be thoughtful and high quality. The concept reflects a growing nationwide market for a higher-end bowling experience than the one chronicled in The Big Lebowski and other pin-crashing flicks.
Rock and roll!

A Taste of Burlington's Bistro de Margot

When chef Herve Mahe announced that he’d transform Burlington’s L’Amante into a French bistro, fans mourned the loss of the longtime trattoria, even before it closed. Some relief came when Mahe said he’d keep the restaurant’s long-serving staff. The food would be different, but with the same kitchen and front-of-house personnel, regulars could return to familiar faces.
So how was it?

Quality Bake Shop

When I bring a dozen Q.B.S. donuts in for "the boys" at work, I'm hero of the morning. WAY better than Dunkin' Donuts (across the street,) and a bit cheaper, to boot. A nice, locally owned establishment--the same regulars are always at "the breakfast club" every time I go there. No frills, just good food and baked stuff at affordable prices. — Joe O'Donnell

Stocks and Such: Simple Soup for One

Right now Pete's Greens is harvesting gorgeous baby bok choy. Along with some local shiitakes, a farm egg and a slice of stale bread, this made a delightful, super-quick brunchy soup ... But a soup can only be as good as the stock you make it with. So if you're not in the habit of making stock yourself, I urge you to give it a go.
Soup's on!
