Caeleb Dressel, Katie Ledecky, Summer McIntosh, Bobby Finke Lead Loaded Field for Atlanta Classic (Psych Sheet)
This year’s edition of the Atlanta Classic will feature as strong a field as any non-championship meet on U.S. soil outside of TYR Pro Swim Series. For the first time in almost 11 months, Caeleb Dressel is scheduled to compete, and he will be joined by the entire squad of U.S. Olympians also training at the University of Florida, including Katie Ledecky, Bobby Finke, Kieran Smith, Emma Weyant, Natalie Hinds and Jake Mitchell.

Who Will Win the Men’s 100 Freestyle at the World Champs? A Look At the Contenders

The men’s 100 freestyle has long been considered the blue-ribband of swimming, and when the best swimmers in the world gather to race the event this July in Fukuoka, Japan, look for a showdown between some of the most prominent figures in the sport. The headliner is David Popovici, the Romanian teenager who captured world titles in the 200 free and 100 free last year before breaking a 13-year-old world record in the 100 free at the European Championships in August.

Summer McIntosh Set to Contest ‘Off’ Events at Atlanta Classic

In just a couple of months, Summer McIntosh will be one of the focal points of the World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan. The Canadian teenager has been brilliant in the water this year, highlighted by world-record performances in the 400-meter freestyle and the 400 individual medley. But at this week’s Atlanta Classic, we’ll get a look at McIntosh in some more unfamiliar events.

Mexico’s Miguel Alejandro de Lara Surging Toward Paris Games in 200 Breaststroke
Miguel Alejandro de Lara has become the first Mexican swimmer to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. De Lara qualified in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:09.60 at the Mexican qualifying meet. This was the first time de Lara broke the 2:10 barrier. After touching the wall, he did not realize what he had accomplished. It was not until he spoke to his friends and coaches that he realized he had qualified for the Olympics.

A Reminder of the 2024 Olympic Qualifying Standards; Times Are Faster Than Ever
 

The World Aquatics qualifying times for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris feature some extremely fast standards. There are a few events with the same standard as the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, but for the most part, the standards are faster — and in most cases, much faster. The times in the men’s 400 free, 1500 free and 200 backstroke are the same. The rest of the events on the men’s side have faster expectations, with several events standing out.
