TYR Sport Signs Olympic Medalist Claire Curzan

At just 17-years-old, Claire Curzan is a rising victor in the water. A 15x Individual NAG record holder and the youngest female athlete to hold an American Record, Curzan has been a facet on the national stage for years.

She exploded onto the international scene at the 2019 World Junior Championships, battling her way to one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals. In 2021, Curzan made her Olympic debut at the Tokyo Games, where she competed in the individual 100m Butterfly and brought home a silver medal for her effort in the preliminaries of the 4x100m Medley Relay. She finished 2021 with an electrifying performance at the Short Course World Championships, finishing with two gold, two silver, and two bronze medals. 2022 NCAA Women’s Championships Psych Sheet Released With Cutline For Each Event

The final psych sheets for the upcoming 2022 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships was released Wednesday, the final entries for the meet.

The top seeds did not change from the pre-cut, but the cut line was established at 39 swimmers for each swimming event, with swimmers who are in that range for one event, invited to swim other “B” cuts

The only swimmer to earn the No. 1 seed in three individual events is Stanford freshman Regan Smith, who leads the way in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke and 200 butterfly. Smith will go for the grueling 200 back-200 fly double on the final day of the meet, and she looks to be in strong form as she barely missed her own American record in the 100 back by just seven hundredths at the Pac-12 Championships last week.

The NCAA psych sheet includes Penn’s Lia Thomas, a transgender female swimmer who has been the subject of controversy this season as those around the sport have debated the fairness of her competing against cisgender females. Thomas ranks first in the nation entering the meet in the 200 and 500 freestyle, and she is 10th in the 100 free.

FINA Confirms Budapest World Championships Will Start With Pool Programme

FINA has confirmed the swimming section will take place in the first week of the World Championships in Budapest in June.

The global meet was announced last month following the postponement of the Fukuoka worlds because of the ongoing pandemic.

Given the Commonwealth Games and European Championships are also taking place in July and August respectively, it meant two major meets in less than eight weeks for some nations and three for the British team.
