At ISHOF, Body Part Is Piece of Memorabilia That Tells the Story of Dick Roth & Olympic Glory

Walking through the International Swimming Hall of Fame, any number of artifacts or pieces of memorabilia will catch the eye. Olympic medals. Warmups of legends. Suits. Caps. And…internal body parts.

Wait, what?

A packup process at ISHOF is currently underway, with every piece of memorabilia set to go into storage while a new facility – gorgeous in nature – is built in Fort Lauderdale. But before everything is boxed, a medical cup caught my attention during a recent visit. Could that possibly be a urine sample? No joke, that was the first thought that crossed my mind. And then I found out what was inside was even more stunning.

Maggie Mac Neil Named Swimming Canada’s Swimmer of the Year

Maggie Mac Neil didn’t know what to expect from herself heading into last summer’s Tokyo Olympics.

The 21-year-old London, Ont., native was considered a medal contender after winning the 100-metre butterfly at the 2019 FINA World Championships in Gwangju, Korea, but her training and competition schedule for the Olympics had been disrupted by COVID-19.

“I probably would have had more swimming goals time wise, and medal wise, if we had a normal year going into it,” said Maggie Mac Neil. “But not really being able to compete with the best in the world for a year leading up to it, I wasn’t really sure what to expect.

Sean Green, Elmbrook Swim Club Break NAG Records at NCSA Junior Nationals

During the first evening of racing at the NCSA Junior Nationals in Orlando, two National Age Group records were broken, with 14-year-old Sean Green knocking more than eight seconds off a record in the 1650 freestyle before the Elmbrook Swim Club took down a star-studded medley relay record later in the evening.

Green recorded a time of 15:05.83 to finish third in the 1650 freestyle. That crushed the previous NAG record of 15:14.17 set by Germantown Academy’s Arthur Frayler in 2008. Green, representing Long Island Aquatic Club, ended up finishing third in the race behind Levi Sandidge (14:49.75) and Giovanni Linscheer (14:51.96).
