LET'S CLEAR SOME THINGS UP Established in 2003, New Jersey's Clean Energy Program assists New Jersey residents, businesses, and governments in reducing their cost of energy by implementing best practices and offering a variety of financial assistance. As with any program that makes offers that sound too good to be true, there may be hesitation as to the legitimacy of the information. So, let us explain! Pursuant to NJSA 48:3-60 the NJBPU permits each New Jersey investor-owned utility to recover costs through a societal benefits charge, a non-bypassable charge, that is collected to fund programs like NJCEP, low income programs and others. Program guidelines are set and technology specifications are established that allow all ratepayers to participate in NJCEP programs that achieve energy savings for every dollar spent. In the end, you will have lower utility bills and the energy cost for all ratepayers is reduced! |

TOGETHER WE CAN Sustainable Jersey is a voluntary certification program that provides tools, training and financial incentives to support municipalities and schools as they pursue sustainability programs. To achieve the Gold Star in Energy, the municipality must be Silver certified and demonstrate reductions in GHG emissions from municipal operations as well as encourage residents and businesses to reduce their energy use by promoting programs such as Home Performance, Direct Install, and Community-Led Solar Initiatives. With 444 municipalities and 633 schools participating, search to see if your town or school is a Sustainable Jersey community or school! Did you hear? Our partner New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has launched an online resource, the New Jersey Clean Energy Learning Center, to provide online education to the full range of stakeholder groups engaged with New Jersey's Clean Energy Program.
