Dear Food Change Champion, You are in on a fact that shouldn't be a secret: fresh, sustainably grown food is critical to your health and the health of our planet. But many people in our community don’t have access to the good food they need to live the healthy lives they deserve. Our food system values corporations over people’s health, and profits over planet. In an age when a third of our children will develop type 2 diabetes, changing this life sentence is urgent. “In San Francisco, young people like me aren’t really exposed to nature and the importance of eating healthy foods,” says student Marissa Pho. “In the city, we are surrounded by things that are bad for us. We are surrounded by fast food restaurants. We are surrounded by liquor stores. We are surrounded by drugs and violence. CUESA’s school garden program is a positive thing for my classmates and me growing up in the city because it gives us a unique opportunity to learn about the importance of healthy foods and how our choices affect the environment.” You have the power to support young people like Marissa to live the healthy lives they deserve and become the change makers we need today. This Giving Tuesday, we are writing to ask you to put your values into action. You've helped CUESA build powerful, lasting farmers markets education programs for our youth. You've help young people like Marissa deepen their connection to nature and healthy food, and turn this connection into action by becoming environmental leaders in their community. Empower the next generation and grow healthy communities with a gift to CUESA today. $50 Fresh fruits and vegetables from the farmers market for a free Foodwise Kids cooking class $100 Stipends for a high school student for their first job: selling their school garden produce at the farmers market $250 Kitchen and garden supplies for one school for a semester of Foodwise Kids $500 A life-changing semester for one urban student in CUESA’s high school garden program Give any amount, so that young people like Marissa have opportunities to be healthy, to deepen their environmental understanding, and turn this knowledge into action. Our goal is to raise $2,500 this #GivingTuesday, and $25,000 by the end of the year. Thank you for your partnership in growing the healthy world we all want to see!
P.S. Does your employer offer matching gifts on charitable contributions? This means your gift will go twice as far in supporting healthy kids and family farmers. Donate and double your impact.
