Friend,
High-speed internet is an essential utility. When you go online, you have certain expectations.
You expect your internet service provider (ISP) like Comcast or Verizon to reliably connect you to the internet and all websites, applications and content you choose — regardless of your demographic or ZIP code.
That’s Net Neutrality, and it’s built on the sound legal notion that broadband access must be classified under Title II of the Communications Act to give people the strongest protections possible.
Unfortunately, in 2017, the Trump FCC destroyed the Obama FCC’s landmark Net Neutrality ruling, and the agency now lacks the authority it needs to protect internet users like you. But in 2024, we can win these rules back thanks to a process the Biden FCC just initiated. That fight starts now.
Will you join Free Press in demanding that the FCC swiftly and fully reinstate Net Neutrality and Title II to protect the free and open internet we all rely on? ISPs desperately need federal oversight. They consistently rank at the very bottom of consumer ratings. And we’re sure everyone receiving this email has at least one story about their ISP taking advantage of them. 🙄
Companies like Comcast and their zillions of lobbyists are doing everything they can to flood the media and the halls of Congress with anti-Net Neutrality propaganda. We’ve seen this movie before.
But they can’t change the fact that majorities of voters from across the political spectrum reject the Trump administration’s repeal of Net Neutrality and want the FCC to bring back the open-internet rules.1We need your voice on this: Tell the FCC to reinstate Net Neutrality and Title II.
Thanks for taking urgent action,
Heather and the rest of the Free Press team freepress.net
