Hosting a science camp with neighbors, co-op friends, or even just as a family can be an easy and fun way to spend time together, learn new things, and have fun—away from the screens!

Here are a few simple tips for planning a Science Camp this summer:

• Determine your audience: What age range will be involved? While a 12-year-old may get more out of a lesson than a 6-year-old, it’s very easy to find activities that will be enjoyed by multiple ages.
   
• Plan Your Schedule: How long will it run—four hours a day for a week? One day a week for 6 weeks? (Tip: Remember to allow time for set-up and clean-up and short breaks for younger children.)
   
• Choose a Topic: Choose a subject that you and your children are interested in or desire to learn more about. You can even choose to teach a topic where the work is done for you—i.e. use a Unit Study. You could even use this experience to do those experiments you didn’t have time to do during the school year.
