Meet the people who flipped their lives around and never looked back |
|
Imagine throwing it all in and taking to the road with your family. That's just what writer Jodi Wilson and partner Daniel did with their three kids in 2017. Their busy Sydney lives had become unsustainable and the couple decided to take a leap of faith and change everything. And it paid off. "I was just very conscious of what it felt like to live a life that wasn't dictated by expectation or obligation. And it felt incredibly good," Jodi says. Read all about the family's adventures, their ups and downs, and the moment they knew it was time to end their years-long road trip. Jodi shared her story with the Life Matters team as part of their new Leap series. Hear from other people who have also taken huge life shifts, like Mitch's switch from lawyer to male escort, Derrick's transformation from wild party guy to sobriety and meditation or Naomi's decision to walk away from the Jehovah's Witnesses church. And if you're feeling inspired, clinical psychologist Dr Rebecca Ryan has some advice for changing your own life. There will be more food for thought at the Big Ideas / PsychTalks event Lonely No More: Unveiling Australia's Silent Struggle. According to recent research, 87 per cent of people find it difficult to talk about loneliness and most people would rather disclose a mental illness diagnosis than an experience of loneliness. Join experts, advocates and those with lived experience as they discuss this important issue on Tuesday November 14 at the University of Melbourne. Bookings here.
