A Jewish conversation for Pride MonthTuesday, June 30 @ 12:30 p.m. ET Fifty years after the first Pride march, this year's celebration is different. Social-distancing has canceled many parades, and celebrations are mainly online. The Supreme Court just ruled that LGBTQ people are protected from employment discrimination. And the issue of inclusion has perhaps never been a higher priority in Jewish circles. On June's last day, Jodi Rudoren, the Forward's Editor-in-Chief, will moderate a conversation with key thought leaders. Register here. This talk will be recorded and sent to registrants. |

Rabbi Sandra Lawson, a chaplain at Elon University in North Carolina, and Tema Smith, a contributing columnist at The Forward, talked with Jodi Rudoren about the holiday that celebrates the end of slavery in the United States, and how Jews are — and should and could be — marking it this year. David Makovsky, head of the Israel-Arab relations project at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, and Khalil Shikaki, director of the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research, joined Jodi Rudoren, former Jerusalem bureau chief of The New York Times, for this critical discussion. |
