Good evening,

Good evening,

Former JPMorgan co-head of equity capital markets Simone Haslinger has made her first major move since leaving investment banking.

The seasoned banker, whose two-decade career spanned JPMorgan and Deutsche Bank, has joined boutique quantitative fund manager East Coast Capital Management (ECCM) as its chief executive.

Haslinger will be tasked with growing ECCM’s funds under management, focusing on its wholesale and institutional investor channels.

End-of-year reporting sent to Square Peg investors last week says the 13-year-old firm went from overseeing $US2.7 billion to $US3.25 billion at December 31, thanks to strong performance from its portfolio and a revival in technology M&A.

Australian shares ended the week on a positive note, buoyed by local retailers and a turnaround in mining stocks’ fortunes in late trading on Friday.
