BY ADAM DAIGLE | Acadiana Business Editor My veteran real estate analyst Bill Bacque likes to refer to it as the three I's: interest rates, inflation and insurance rates. Each one has slowed down parts of the home construction business, particularly the higher-price markets, and now tariffs are entering the picture. Brian Clement, the Louisiana state representative with the National Home Builders Association and co-owner of Lafayette-based CA Homes, admits his market is soft. Now tariffs on lumber alone could increase the price a house between $7,500 and $10,000, he said. Clement talked with our Baton Rouge business editor, Timothy Boone, for a Q&A. You can read his story here. Have a great day and thanks again for reading. |
