Dear fellow South Carolinians, Thank you for subscribing to my weekly e-newsletter, and please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. Senate Tax Reform Bill Last Thursday, my colleagues and I in the Senate released our tax bill. We have put forth a plan that will help families like the one I grew up in single-parent households working paycheck to paycheck year in and year out, praying and hoping for something good to happen. We want to say to those folks who haven't really had a raise in a decade, we hear you. We feel your pain. We want to deliver to our American family the opportunity to see more money in each paycheck. This is good. And for folks who are looking to start businesses, we have a Christmas surprise for you too. We've lowered taxes on the average family about $1,500 a year, $100 or so a month. You can watch my floor speech on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act here. Tax Reform This week was a busy one for tax reform- on Thursday and Friday, I joined Fox News to discuss the Senate tax bill. You can watch those segments here and here. I also joined Fox and Friends on Saturday morning and CBS’s Face the Nation on Sunday morning. You can watch those segments here and here. Around the State I was happy to be in South Carolina this weekend to join my fellow South Carolinians in celebrating Veterans Day. On Friday, I visited Alma Elementary School in Gaffney to join parents in learning about the Lena “Talk to Me” program. Afterwards, I traveled to Union to meet with local community leaders to discuss the state of Union County. Later, I met with folks in Newberry at the Fairview Community Center to give an update on the current happenings in Washington and answer questions. I was happy to end my day in Simpsonville, where I attended the First Baptist’s Veterans Recognition Dinner. It was an honor to speak and be able to meet so many true American heroes. On Saturday, I was blessed to celebrate Veterans Day in Greenville, with a special Vietnam era Veteran pinning ceremony. To all of our veterans this weekend- your courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten & we thank you today and every day. Sincerely, Tim
