Tax Reform For the first time in many years, Congress has the opportunity to implement tax policies that allow middle-class Americans to keep more of their hard-earned money and encourage employers to invest, hire, and grow. Our current tax code is antiquated, and a fair system tailored for the 21st century is long overdue. Our system should not make it more difficult for working Americans; it should encourage success and a chance at the American Dream. When we discuss tax reform, our focus needs to be on raising incomes, especially for those who haven’t seen a raise in decades, more jobs, and a major boost in our nation’s economy. We must lower taxes and simplify our tax code. We must do what we can to ensure every American has the opportunity to succeed. Watch me discuss tax reform with CBS This Morning here. Pickens County Visit On Friday, I stopped by the Pickens County Career and Technology Center. It was wonderful to meet with a coalition of Chambers in Oconee and Pickens, where I was able to talk with and take questions from local leaders about education and other issues.
