Swiftonomics: Coming three months ahead of the Super Bowl, Taylor Swift's weekend in New Orleans was seen as a critical test of the city’s ability to pull off a major event without the kind of crime, infrastructure or logistical incidents that can make daily life challenging for locals. So how'd we do? Stephanie Riegel has the story.
'Deplorable conditions': A Metairie couple was arrested on animal cruelty charges after JPSO deputies allegedly found 42 neglected dogs and one Mississippi kite at their home, many caged with little to no food or water. About half the dogs rescued are puppies, and, as Michelle Hunter reports, they'll be up for adoption as soon as they've recovered.
Overcrowded and underfunded? Sheriff Susan Hutson says the jail has far more inmates than it's capable of holding, costing her office millions in unanticipated expenses. Now she's asking for a major increase to the department's 2025 budget. Joseph Cranney has the details.
