PICKS OF THE WEEK

Bar Fuoco

Even though Northeast Ohio is in the midst of a sweltering summer, Bar Fuoco makes it feel like you’re on vacation all on the time with its outdoor dining space. The new restaurant in the former JoJo’s Backyard features a wood-fired menu and breezy atmosphere that’s inspired by the Italian coast. Don’t miss out on three kinds of frosé on tap or the refreshing cocktails that somehow are even more appropriate to sip on in the lounge space than the typical Aperol Spritz. As for food, wood-fired spiedino, or skewers, and pizzettes are standouts alongside seasonal salads and small plates. Bar Fuoco is at 87 ¾ West Street in Chagrin Falls. – Alex Darus DETAILS

Swensons Drive-in

Swensons has been on our mind since the famed eatery and Cordelia in downtown Cleveland teamed up recently on a collaboration. Sometimes you have to go back in time for a bite at an old-fashioned drive-in, and Swenson’s, which has been around for more than 90 years, hits the spot. With a menu more extensive than any national fast-food chain’s, you can choose from burgers and more – egg-salad sandwich anyone? And you have to love the shakes – you can mix and match whatever flavors you want – chocolate and peanut butter? Multiple locations. – Marc Bona DETAILS

Rennick Meat Market

A day of nice summer weather is a good day for a drive, especially if you have a convertible. Or even a moonroof. Rennick’s Meat Market in scenic Ashtabula Harbor is a fun destination. Set in a reclaimed 19th-century butcher shop, it’s developed quite the reputation as a steakhouse. Choose from a substantive list of classic and craft cocktails. Then, move on to a hunk of meat or, perhaps, fish, chicken or pasta. Make it a Sunday afternoon drive and you’ll have time to explore the street and wander small local shops selling art, beauty products, chocolate, local produce and more.  – Paris Wolfe DETAILS
