Good afternoon! It's Thursday, May 11, and today's headlines include research on answered prayers, PETA releasing a "vegan-friendly" version of the book of Genesis, and a Texas megachurch that is forming its own Methodist denomination.

A poll from The Radiant Foundation showed that 87% of respondents who pray saw at least one of their prayers answered in the last year. The survey of more than 1,700 Americans found that 85% of Americans connect with a higher power. Sixty-one percent reported doing so via prayer, followed by meditation (39%), mindfulness (38%), the recitation of affirmation (30%) and spiritually-based yoga (14%). Results showed that the average American prays twice a day and for 18 minutes daily. Some 84% believe God hears their prayers regardless of how they believe. Full Story.
