And there’s a Russian in NASCAR, too!

While the Formula 1 title battle has rather fizzled out after Charles Leclerc’s exit in France, if you look Stateside there’s a whole lot of crazy action happening.

Firstly, reigning IndyCar champion Alex Palou’s contractual tug of war between his current team, Chip Ganassi Racing, and McLaren (who recently announced him as one of its drivers for 2023) just blew up. Ganassi has issued a lawsuit against its own driver, just days before a crucial race on the Indianapolis road course this weekend!

Also at Indy, in the Brickyard double-header, ex-F1 racer Daniil Kvyat will make his NASCAR Cup Series debut – a first for a Russian driver. Don’t expect much, as he’s with a truly minnow team, but maybe he should pop over to the IndyCar paddock in the midst of the contract chaos?

And, as if all that wasn’t enough, NASCAR disqualified a race winner for the first time in over 60 years last Sunday – and the second-place finisher too. Wild times! Can’t wait to see what happens next…
