Déjà-vu as Kragh Andersen does it again and the team complete their hat-trick of wins... |
|
Stage 19 saw another impressive solo victory for Søren Kragh Andersen, after a fantastic effort from the team behind. With Nicholas Roche riding tempo to keep the early break in check, Nikias Arndt and Søren Kragh Andersen made the decisive counter attack of the day in the final, forming part of a 12-rider strong group. After a few probing attacks, Kragh Andersen judged his move to perfection, producing a devastating turn of speed to escape their grasp. Behind, Arndt immediately played the perfect teammate's role, disrupting the chase as Kragh Andersen's gap continued to grow. Not looking back until he was under the flamme rouge, Kragh Andersen had enough time to sit up and raise his arms aloft to celebrate another fantastic Tour de France win, his second of the race and Team Sunweb's third. In the chasing group, Arndt sprinted to sixth place meaning it was yet another stage where at least one other rider in the team finished in the top ten alongside the winner - testament to the team's great tactics. |

Hirschi encapsulates fighting spirit and makes a trip to the podium in Paris... |
|
"The rider who gives the biggest effort and shows the best sportsmanship." Those are the words from the Tour de France regulations for the combativity award and they sum up the team's performance at this year's race, including debutant Marc Hirschi. Winning swathes of adoring fans from around the world with his daring attacks, hair-raising descents, incredible solo raids, podium place anguish and winning elation; Hirschi was rewarded with the title as most combative rider of this year's Tour de France. An incredibly just reward after winning the daily prize once per week, it is now the second time that Team Sunweb have stood on the podium in Paris to collect the prize after Warren Barguil won it in 2017. What an incredible Tour it's been! |

| Take a closer look at one our innovations that we used at the Tour de France; our 3D printed TT armpads and wedges made by DSM. In a discipline where every watt is crucial, the armpads and wedges gain our riders 4.29W when travelling at 50km/h. Pretty impressive, right? |
