Here are a few headlines to get your day started.
with Katelyn UmholtzGood morning, y'all: Two proposals that would change policies for New Orleans police officers were unanimously approved by City Council on Thursday. Jeff Adelson reports that the measures were in response to recent social injustice issues and the protests that followed, including one incident in New Orleans where police tear gassed demonstrators on the Crescent City Connection in June. The use of tear gas by New Orleans police is now severely restricted, but there are still some instances where the chemical irritants could still be used. The next resolution asked NOPD to ban "no-knock warrants," the same warrant executed by Louisville, Kentucky, police before they shot and killed Breonna Taylor back in March. Read up on these latest proposals coming out of City Council, and other top stories, in today's edition of the Front Page Newsletter. Thanks for reading, New Orleans. |
