View in browser January 6, 2021 Wednesday marks at least the fifth time that Joe Biden will win the 2020 election, this time when Congress certifies the Electoral College's votes sent in from the states.
But wait, what's that? Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley are leading a cadre in the Senate that plans to challenge the results. Sort of.
You see, both Cruz and Hawley know that there's no way for Congress to overturn the election now — they don't even specifically endorse President Donald Trump's wildest conspiracy theories.
Instead, Hayes Brown writes, "they know where the disinformation is coming from and yet still are trying to scam their constituents into thinking something both know is untrue" — namely, that they're doing anything but cynically exploiting Trump's lies for their own benefit.
"There's a difference between doing what you think is right even in the face of failure and knowingly failing in hopes of defrauding your supporters," Brown continues. "This effort is clearly the latter, and it's honestly an insult to the people whose trust they're asking for."
