After a long delay, and a change in administration, Trump’s impeachment trial is set to begin next week. Even though Trump has already left office, the Senate still has the power to prevent him from running for president again.
Tell your senators that they cannot allow this desperate despot to regain power in future elections. They must convict and disqualify Trump from holding public office ever again.
Trump is the first president in U.S. history to be impeached twice, and for good reason. He incited a violent racist insurrection against the United States — and even now refuses to concede his loss in the election. His lies continue to fuel violence across the country.
As we head toward the impeachment trial, Republican members of Congress who initially condemned the insurrection on the Capitol — and Trump’s involvement in it — are wavering. There are only a few days left to urge them to do the right thing. Tell the Senate that Trump must be held accountable for his actions — and he must be convicted and disqualified from ever again running for president.
As we move forward with a new administration, we cannot sweep our history under the rug — Trumpism is not new, and it will not go away unless we face it and force it out. That means taking action to hold Trump accountable and make sure that he can never hold public office again.
