Louisiana’s House of Representatives went down that path by approving a bill to require public schools to post the Ten Commandments in every classroom. Critics say forcing schools to post a Biblical text on classroom walls is a glaring example of inappropriate influence.
The East Baton Rouge Parish School Board has selected a Georgia-based firm to help the state’s second-largest school district establish strategic goals and develop a fresh vision as it prepares to search for a new superintendent. The board still plans to advertise for the vacant position no later than May 6.
