Ten things to note about the proposed SNF rule


A proposed rule, titled Proposed Fiscal Year 2020 Payment and Policy Changes for Medicare Skilled Nursing Facilities (CMS-1718-P), was published in the Federal Register on April 25. Here are ten things you need to know.

 

PBJ and SNF QRP submissions due May 15


Staffing data from Jan 1 through March 31 must be submitted no later than 45 days from the end of the quarter. The final submission deadline for this quarter is May 15, 2019. On a SNF open door forum held earlier this week, officials instructed facilities to review their monthly provider preview reports in their CASPER folder for feedback on their most recent submission.

 

 

Proposed 2020 ICD-10-CM codes include new codes for deep tissue damage, facial bone fractur

Coders will have new ICD-10-CM codes to report pressure-induced deep tissue damage, acute versus chronic embolism and thrombosis and fractures of the facial bones around the eye, among other changes.

 

Hospice payment increase of 2.7% proposed, but it’s not a straightforward change

While the hospice industry is expected to receive about $540 million in increased payments in 2020, hospice providers should curb the enthusiasm until they fully analyze how the changes will impact the business.
