A Message From the Editor

As the legal field continues to move away from being a profession and more towards being a business, tensions are on the rise. As our first story today explains, the increasing focus on profits and attorney performance means partners are no longer being treated like "family." The rise of de-equitization, compensation adjustment systems and expansion of the non-equity tear are all leading to a changing atmosphere at law firms. Also, a bid to overturn a $43.5 million medical malpractice verdict for a former Philadelphia Eagle has been sacked.
