Firefighter injured battling house fire in Tyler A firefighter who injured his back while battling a house fire in Tyler's Hollytree neighborhood has been released from the hospital. Police say the blaze was called in around 12:45 p.m., in the 1300 block of Cold Water Cove. CBS19 crews are reporting at least seven fire trucks and nearly 30 firefighters were on scene. Officials say one firefighter was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Two people were in the house when the fire began, but were able to get out safely. Tyler Fire Marshal Joey Hooton said the firefighter has been released from hospital after getting treatment for an injured back. Officials said the second story of the home was destroyed. Firefighters had performed a fast attack to control the blaze before it became a total loss. KYTX-TV CBS/CW+ 19 NACOGDOCHES Update: Elevated air quality readings detected at Spring Branch mulch fire, Houston Health Department says VIDEO: A burning mulch fire still glowed Thursday night, nearly a week after it ignited at a three-acre Spring Branch construction site. Amid the ongoing fire, Houston Health Department officials confirmed for the first time what neighbors were worried about. Air quality readings were at an elevated level. Officials used a town hall Thursday evening to address concerns over the ongoing incident off Hollister and Hammerly. Dozens of residents were in attendance. While the health department mentioned the "high" readings, officials did not specify what exactly that meant. The health department said no alerts were issued because even though there were some elevated air quality readings, the average of all the readings was below federal standards. Still, neighbors told Eyewitness News that the smell is awful inside and outside their homes. KTRK-TV ABC 13 HOUSTON Whitesboro receives grant for large brush fire truck Whitesboro is getting a grant from the National Forestry Service to purchase a much-needed large brush fire truck. It's coming at the perfect time; the department's current brush truck isn't likely to last much longer than a year. "As we have more grass fires here in Grayson County and we have more large urban renewal moving in, this large grass truck will be a great asset," said Fire Chief Steve Pinkston. "It carries a little more water than a smaller brush truck does, which we need at times. Like I said, it'll be a great asset to this fire department." Lately, any kind of fire truck has been hard to come by thanks to a mix of inflation and shortage of parts. The cost of the new truck will be split with the city. "Their part is $240,000," Pinkston. KTEN-TV NBC/CW+/ABC 10 ADA Firefighters rescue dog trapped in New Waverly barn fire PHOTOS: Fire investigators in New Waverly are trying to figure out what caused a fire late Wednesday. It broke out just before 10:30 p.m. in the 5100 block of FM 1374 west of I-45. It took crews more than 3 hours to get the flames fully extinguished. When firefighters entered the burning building, they found the resident's dog under a bed. The crew was able to get the dog out safely. It is now recovering at a vet clinic in Conroe. The resident was not home at the time of the fire. Officials say most of the building and its contents were destroyed including agricultural equipment and a large number of hay bales. The New Waverly Fire Department, Huntsville Fire Department and North Montgomery County Fire Department helped fight the fire. KBTX-TV CBS 3 BRYAN PREVIOUS STATE NEWS |

Andy Shively, who's a proud team member at Station #5, says, "This is a feel good story with everything that's going on right now." And Andy's right. The idea behind the cards is pretty simple. As Andy explains, the guys want all you elves to feel good and, historically, they've stayed true to that approach, even when things are pretty heavy around us. The guys at Station #5 have a history of creating cards that reflect what's "going on." During the COVID pandemic years, they masked up to continue their mission of spreading some holiday cheer. In 2020, they demonstrated how to social distance at the holiday gatherings and parties. WOMI-FM 99.1 OWENSBORO PREVIOUS NATIONAL NEWS |
