Fire crews are still working to extinguish a large, active wildfire on the National Wildlife Refuge in Brazoria County. The wildfire is burning near County Road 227 and County Road 208, about 20 miles east of Angleton. Calls came in reporting the fire just after 3 p.m. Sunday, the Brazoria County Fire Marshal said. The county fire marshal's office advised people to avoid the area and use alternate routes for their safety. Officials said no homes are threatened and no injuries have been reported. As of Sunday evening, over 300 acres were impacted by the fire. An ABC13 viewer in the area sent a video showing a large plume of smoke. SkyEye flew above the scene on Monday morning, where the fire was still actively burning in multiple areas.

Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire at a West Side home. The fire happened around 4 p.m. on Sunday in the 600 block of Cordelia Street. Upon arrival, firefighters noticed flames coming from the back of the house. SAFD said they pulled a water line to the rear of the home to knock down the flames. Two teenagers escaped from the home as the flames started, according to SAFD. Investigators believe the fire might have started in a room toward the back of the house after an A/C unit malfunctioned. SAFD shared that the home is not livable since smoke damaged it. Some of the roofs had to be removed to ensure flames were extinguished. No injuries were reported.

VIDEO: The driver of an 18-wheeler that crashed into a home on Saturday morning died, according to the Mission Police Department. The 18-wheeler also struck two other vehicles at the 2600 block of W. Expressway 83 on Saturday, shortly after 9 a.m. The crash hospitalized one other person, according to Mission police spokesman Jorge Rodriguez. The driver of the 18-wheeler was identified by police as a 51-year-old man. He died at the scene, Rodriguez said. First responders were able to remove the body from the scene on Saturday evening. Rodriguez said clearing the scene and removing the 18-wheeler is expected to take several hours. "We don't get really that many crashes where vehicles impact houses, so we are gonna be out for a while," Rodriguez said.

Three firefighters were injured after two giant store signs came crashing down at the scene of a fire in Washington Heights. Flames broke out at 1281 St Nicholas Ave. near 174th Street just before 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The firefighters had just finished putting out a fire that swept through the stores - a snack shop and a beauty salon. Dozens of EMS rushed to help the firefighters, who were brought to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

VIDEO: The Salt Lake City Fire Department has taken possession of a new state-of-the-art airport rescue vehicle now stationed at Salt Lake City International Airport's Fire Station 12. The new bright yellow-green vehicle is a brand new 2023 Rosenbauer Panther apparatus or ARFF (Airport Rescue Firefighting Rig) as the firefighters at the station call it. The new vehicle, two to three times larger than your average firetruck, is designed to respond to any airport aircraft crashes or rescue missions. The Salt Lake City Fire Department now has four of these vehicles. The current vehicle replaced a much older ARFF rig that SLC Fire says was dated in capabilities. "Basically, what this is, is just a large tank," said Capt. Brandt Hancuff.

PHOTOS: Video shows a wild street takeover in downtown Los Angeles coming to a fiery conclusion overnight. Preliminary information from stringer service OnSceneTV indicates the takeover occurred at the intersection of 18th and Main streets before 3 a.m. Saturday. A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed the location and stated that upwards of 50 cars were present. Officers were originally dispatched on calls of fireworks being lit, the spokesperson added. The sideshow, which was attended by hundreds of people, ended with two vehicles ablaze in the middle of the intersection; it was not immediately clear if they were deliberately set on fire or if they caught fire due to another source. Traffic was seen maneuvering around the inferno and while some motorists honked their horns, others seemed to drive by as if all were normal.

VIDEO: The Colorado Springs Fire Department took to social media ahead of the Fourth of July and created a fun tik tok to spread awareness that fireworks are illegal in the city. In the TikTok video, a firefighter is holding a firework trying to figure out if they should light it, with the audio "don't do it" in the background. When they finally go for it, another person sprays the man and a firework with water. CSFD says this year they wanted to take a lighter approach to spreading awareness that they hope will translate to a larger audience. "A lot of times we see just some graphics that will say ‘hey fireworks are illegal' and we really wanted to come up with a way that we could get the message across to our community and have a little fun. We kinda air on the side of the fun things when we have serious topics because we want to make sure it's a little bit more relatable to people," said CSFD official Ashley Franco.
