PHOTOS: Last Monday morning, a fiery rollover crash off state Route 210 in Little Cottonwood Canyon closed the road for hours. Witnesses didn't think anyone could have survived the explosion, but one Unified police officer ran into the flames to make a daring rescue. A supervisor from the Unified Police Department identified officer Wilson from the Canyon Patrol Unit as the hero who rushed in to rescue a driver pinned in the burning semitruck. At the request of the supervisor, KSL will only use the officer's last name. "The officer was super humble and didn't expect anything from the whole thing; he just went in there not knowing the situation. He didn't know if the guy was alive or dead. The officer put himself at risk. That level of courage is what you want in a police officer. He is amazing! He is a hero," said Justin Morgan, a witness who called 911.

Fire personnel will initiate a watch at the flagpole in the park beginning at midnight and continuing for 24 hours on June 18. A ceremony with family, firefighters, and leadership will begin at 7 p.m. and will be livestreamed on the department's Facebook page. Fire alarms sounded at the Sofa Super Store on the evening of June 18, 2007. Black smoke poured from the furniture store and warehouse as firefighters arrived to battle the flames.

VIDEO: We've all heard the saying, "I want to be like dad," but a firefighting family trio in Louisville are taking the phrase to the next level. Major Bryan Stotts, a district chief for the Louisville Fire Department, is still actively serving on the team and so are his two sons Sergeant Caleb Stotts and Oliver Stotts. They all met at Louisville Fire Station 11 on Father's Day. It's a special place for the family that holds a lot of memories. "The boys were kind of brought up in this fire house," Bryan said. "We did birthday parties and families and crews I've worked with over the years have been great and family oriented." Bryan Stotts is a father of seven children. The brothers said while growing up they would see their dad pack up and leave to a scene of a fire. "We got to see a lot of the runs pulling out and him talking about it and all the stories," Caleb said.

VIDEO: The Northeast and Midwest, including New York City and Boston, are bracing for what could be the hottest stretch of weather in 30 years this week as a sweltering heat dome settles over a large part of the nation. Over the next six days, 265 million people, or about 82% of the U.S. population, are likely to experience temperatures topping 90 degrees as the official first day of summer arrives on Thursday. Many cities in the Midwest and the Northeast could experience what the National Weather Services calls rare and long-duration heat with up to five straight days of 95-plus-degree weather with high humidity that will make it feel 100 to 105 degrees. As of Monday morning, 17 states from Iowa to Maine were under a heat alert.
