Fort Worth firefighters rescue two people trapped inside burning home Investigators are trying to figure out what sparked a fire that trapped two people inside their home Tuesday night in the Como neighborhood of Fort Worth. "I'm stuck in the house... The house is on fire and I'm stuck in my bedroom!" a man said, calling 911 Tuesday night around 10:15 p.m. Within minutes, Mike Jones, a captain with the Fort Worth Fire Department, and his crew were on their way to the house in the Como neighborhood. "On the way there, you know that you've got a tough job to do," Jones said. "I said, ‘When we get off, I want you to start cutting the burglary bars off, and then I told the two firefighters on the back that we're going to do a rapid search as quick as we can." KXAS-TV NBC 5 DALLAS - FORT WORTH Parker County EMS recognized by state Four Parker County Hospital District paramedics were recently recognized with the prestigious "Texas Department of State Health Services EMS Person of the Year" award at this year's Texas EMS Conference. WEATHERFORD DEMOCRAT - METERED SITE Dallas fire prevention officer welcomed back after stroke; credits partner with helping save his life A Dallas fire prevention officer was welcomed back to his job with a surprise months after suffering a stroke. Clarence Briggs credits his partner for helping save his life. Briggs had a warm welcome back on Wednesday. "I wasn't expecting this," he said. In July, Briggs was on an inspection with his partner, officer Gisell Delgado, when he began to feel sick. After his partner took him to the emergency room, they found out he had a stroke. "This is family I was ready to get back," Briggs said. "Whenever I think…when I think of Officer Delgado and [my wife]. Over 40 years ago, we said "I do," it said in sickness and in health, and she's lived up to that and beyond." For a few days, it looked like Briggs wouldn't make it. His family credits his recovery to his strong will to live. KDFW-TV FOX 4 DALLAS Kyle Fire Department adds 3 new engines, breaks ground on new station The Kyle Fire Department marked a month of milestones in November. The department welcomed three new engines. Along with that, KFD broke ground on Station 4 at 110 High Road in northeast Kyle. "It takes about a year. So sometime around December of next year, it should open," Kyle Fire Chief Kyle Taylor said. Kyle firefighter Declan Trevethan said it's incredible to see the department grow. "With all this brand new equipment, it increases our morale and pride," Trevethan said. "Because we get to work on the best engines available with the best crews available." Trevethan said the new trucks make all the difference when they're responding to calls. "This is exactly what we needed as a department because of how our community is growing," Trevethan said. "It just allows us to get to calls safer, quicker and respond better." KXAN-TV NBC 36 AUSTIN PREVIOUS STATE NEWS |

Body camera footage shows Ohio State Highway Troopers arriving on the scene to find the charter bus, which 55 people were on, in flames. The trooper runs onto the bus with a fire extinguisher. "Is anyone there!?" the trooper yells out onto the bus as flames can be seen. The trooper runs off the bus as the smoke intensifies. "What about the driver is there anyone in there?" the trooper asks a man who replies he isn't sure. "It's just an honor for me and I am humbled by the appointment," said Alicea. As Puerto Rican flags waved in the halls of the Paterson Fire Headquarters, the longtime firefighter stood tall and stoic as he accepted his newest challenge. WPIX-TV CW 11 NEW YORK CITY Vehicles hampered firefighting efforts at destructive house blaze in North Carolina VIDEO: Fire hose damage by vehicles disrupted firefighting efforts Tuesday and crews could not save a house, Wesley Chapel Fire Dept. said. "At some point during that process, a vehicle ran over the fire hose," said Fire Chief Steven McLendon. "They went to turn the fire hydrant on and they noticed the hose had been damaged." The agency said the fire hose damage was not an isolated incident in the area, stating they've had several fires where people have driven over the fire hose. Wesley Chapel and Waxhaw fire departments responded to Tuesday's house fire in the area of Cuthbertson and New Town roads. "The entire thing was just engulfed in flames," neighbor William Woodall recalled. After finding no one inside the house during a search, firefighting efforts began despite there being no nearby fire hydrants.
