VIDEO: Much of East Texas is under a red flag warning — meaning fire danger is at its peak. Several fires that started this weekend are still burning. That includes one in Panola County that has scorched nearly 750 acres of land. Fire Chief Jerry Coxen said some local people heard an explosion around 3 p.m. Sunday. Because of the hot, dry conditions that fire quickly spread along FM 31 south in the Galloway area in Carthage. He said no major structures were damaged and no injuries were reported. "The forestry service stayed out here to daylight this morning. They had seven plows on the ground. They brought a whole new crew in today from all over East Texas," Coxen said. As of Monday night, the Texas A&M Forest Service said the fire is 90% contained. However, it could take days to fully contain it.

As temperatures heat up across the state of Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott declared a wildfire disaster as fire personnel work with specialty equipment to suppress fires. With more triple digit temperatures in the forecast for the Brazos Valley, the Texas A&M Forest Service has stationed airtankers in College Station. Wes Moorehead, associate director and fire chief for the Texas A&M Forest Service, said the department uses multiple airplanes to combat wildfires, but here in College Station, you'll find two super scoopers. "They are made to scoop off of open water lakes and then deposit that water onto an active fire scene," Moorehead said. "Other aircraft, they will be loaded at the airport with retardant or water and then fly to the fire location and drop it. They'll have to return to the airport and get reloaded."

Officials told 7News' Maryland Bureau Chief Brad Bell that the fire started on a balcony and burned outside the building and into the attic. There were two minor injuries reported. PHOTOS: Fourteen seniors were pulled from a Cathedral City home care facility Monday in a dramatic rescue that the city's fire chief said was unlike anything he had ever done in his 34-year career. The 14 seniors were among the 46 people who were rescued in the city after a mudflow that developed late Sunday night trapped several people in cars, homes and even a train, necessitating several rescues and leaving several people living in homes that continue to be submerged in mud. The mudflow was one of many dangerous situations caused by Hilary's path through the Coachella Valley. Hilary had been downgraded to a tropical storm by the time it arrived in the Palm Springs area, but still dropped over 3 inches of rain across the valley, flooding low-lying desert roads and damaging some homes.

Thank you for all your service," Zac Brown could be heard saying at the conclusion of the song. Since being posted to Facebook on Sunday morning, the video has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times.

VIDEO: As Utah students return to their classrooms, getting them to and from school safely is a priority. That means drivers paying attention through school zones and the constant need for more crossing guards. This year, the Unified Police and Unified Fire departments are getting creative to get the word out. They're employing a top secret weapon, a dynamic duo of actors who have a unique perspective on why it's so important to be smart and safe in school zones. This is the latest in a series of public service announcements put together by the UPD AND UFA. The actors may be small in stature, but the message they're trying to convey is huge, especially during this "back to school" time of year.
