VIDEO: No injuries reported after boat catches on fire at southeast Harris County marina No one was injured after a boat caught on fire at the marina of the Lakewood Yacht Club in southeast Harris County Tuesday morning. The Seabrook Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene near the 2500 block of East NASA Parkway. Firefighters were able to remove the boat from the marina and moved it into the lake nearby to prevent other boats from catching on fire. Video of the blaze showed large bright flames shooting into the sky along with black smoke. The boat had significant damage and became a black color. First responders were on a different boat next to the damaged vessel trying to extinguish the fire. Authorities also asked people to avoid the area to allow firefighters to work in the area. KPRC-TV NBC 2 HOUSTON Bryan fire crews respond to apartment building fire, occupants evacuated VIDEO: Eleven apartment units were involved in an apartment complex fire Tuesday morning, according to Bryan Fire Department officials. Chris Lamb, Bryan FD public information officer, said nine of those units were occupied. Emergency responders were called around 8 a.m. to the fire at the complex in the 3100 block of E. 29th St. The road was closed to traffic for a few hours as crews worked to put out the fire. E. 29th Street reopened completely around noon. At one point during the morning, after all occupants were removed, firefighters were pulled from inside the building for safety. Lamb said one firefighter has been treated for heat exhaustion. The Red Cross responded to the scene to help displaced residents. The Executive Director says almost 30 residents are in need of assistance. KBTX-TV CBS 3 BRYAN House being rebuilt near Leon Valley destroyed by fire VIDEO: A house undergoing renovations on the city's West Side was destroyed by a late-night fire, San Antonio fire officials said Monday. The fire was called in at a home near Crystal Bow Street and Blackberry Drive, not far from Loop 410 and near Leon Valley. Firefighters said when they arrived, they found flames showing from a home that was being completely rebuilt to its frames, along with some nearby trees on fire. The fire was knocked down quickly, and without incident. Fire officials said the cause of the fire is not currently known. The home is considered a total loss. The Leon Valley Fire Department, along with the San Antonio Fire Department, both responded to the call. A fire investigation team is now trying to determine the exact cause. There were no reports of any injuries. KSAT-TV ABC 12 SAN ANTONIO Smith County crews send relief to firefighters battling Jasper County wildfire VIDEO: Firefighters continue to work around the clock to tame the roughly 3,700-acre fire in Jasper County. Crews have also received help from multiple surrounding teams from across the state thanks to the Texas Interstate Fire Mutual Aid System. Smith County Emergency Services District 2 recently sent a three-man strike team to join firefighters battling the flames in Jasper County. Charles Clanton, division chief of training and emergency services at Smith County ESD No. 2, said this is in accordance with TIFMAS. "It means an awful lot to be able to go help. In addition to that, we're building our own team with experience and exposure to those type of incidents," Clanton said. "It gives us a robust capability here in Smith County, and as you've seen we've been pretty busy in the wildland world right here at home prior to the rain." VIDEO: Firefighters battle large blaze at Tennessee recycling building PHOTOS: Fire crews are battling a large blaze in Newport that broke out late Monday. As of 8 a.m. Tuesday, the fire at Scott Recycling was still active and the Cocke County Sheriff's Office said the building is a total loss. The Cocke County Emergency Management Agency called the incident response "a sight to see" in a Tuesday morning update and commended the leadership among the agencies that responded to the scene. "Hundreds of men and women working together in a spirit of trust and cooperation; it was a sight to see," a post from Cocke County EMA stated. "Leadership comes in all shapes, sizes, and ages." So far, there have been no reports of injuries. WATE-TV ABC 6 KNOXVILLE Michigan fire departments agree to rent each other's fire equipment on emergency basis Dearborn and Ann Arbor have agreed to rent each other's ambulances and other emergency vehicles on an as-needed or emergency basis. Both cities agreed to the deal in August. "This would occur if Rescue 1-1 is out of service for an extended period of time or if we wanted to add a second transport unit during peak demand times such as night, home football games," The Ann Arbor Fire Department posted on Facebook. "We are deeply appreciative and grateful to Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud and Fire Chief Joseph Murray for their willingness to explore and partner on this." Murray agreed that the contract is good for both cities. "I can see potential during special events," he said. "The request originated from Ann Arbor." Under current law, the governing body of any municipality, by ordinance, may provide for the appointment of one or more ordained members of the clergy as chaplains to the paid or part-paid fire department and force of the municipality, with the rank of battalion chief and their salaries fixed by the governing body. The bill provides that, for any municipal fire department and force chaplain initially appointed after enactment, the municipality may specify in the ordinance appointing the chaplain whether the chaplain will have a rank and salary.
