Austin firefighter stabbed while fighting blazes along interstate A Texas firefighter was stabbed in the thigh early Monday morning by a man accused of starting the multiple fires firefighters were putting out along Interstate 35 in Austin, authorities said. Austin Fire Department shift commander Eddie Martinez told the Austin American-Statesman that the firefighter's injuries weren't life-threatening. Martinez said the man accused of starting the fires had walked onto the interstate, and as firefighters tried to remove him from the roadway, he became agitated and stabbed the firefighter. The fire department said on Twitter that the injured firefighter was treated at a hospital and released and that now "he's home and doing ok." Fire officials say the suspect was arrested on the scene. Authorities did not immediately say what object the firefighter was stabbed with. KXXV-TV ABC 25 WACO 2 dead in mobile home fire in NW Harris County, fire officials say VIDEO: Two people died when a fire tore through a mobile home in northwest Harris County early Tuesday, according to the Fire Marshal's Office. Fire officials said another person was badly injured in the fire. This happened at 1:45 a.m. on Killough Street near Antoine. Fire crews said the fire is out now, but that it was still too dangerous to go in. Firefighters said the roof and the floor collapsed as a result of how strong the fire was, making it really unsafe to navigate through. When fire crews first arrived, they said they found one man outside of the mobile home. That man was rushed to the hospital with extensive burns. Firefighters said they found two victims dead from what they can see outside but haven't been able to go in the house to pull the bodies out because the mobile home is a complete loss. They are working on a plan to get them. KHOU-TV CBS 11 HOUSTON Man in custody, arson investigating after multiple house fires, San Antonio Police Department says A man in his 40s is in custody after multiple homes caught fire on the city's West Side, according to San Antonio police. SAPD initially responded to reports of a man setting fire to homes around 2 p.m. Monday. Firefighters battled flames in the 2200 block of Delgado Street, followed by a second house fire in the 2500 block of Arbor Street. According to SAFD battalion chiefs, both fires were contained and extinguished quickly, and no injuries were reported. Crews were assigned to nearby homes to monitor flames and avoid the spread, said SAFD. Police say the man in his 40s was later taken into custody. It's unclear what charges he faces. Arson investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of the fires. The total damage amount has yet to be released. The fire was under control by about 6:30 a.m., and firefighters said they then began an extensive overhaul. Nortex Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Justin Hargrove said response started out with A-shift, then rolled to B-shift with C-shift coming in on a call back. "There is significant damage to the Venue but won't know any more news until we can get inside and look for ourselves," a representative from the business posted.
