A coalition of education and parent groups in Michigan announced they are suing to prevent the state from providing funding to private schools. The lawsuit arises out of the state budget that went into effect Oct. 1 that provides up to $2.5 million to reimburse private schools for costs associated with state-mandated requirements. A school voucher proposal targeting Shelby County Schools is shaping up to be the top voucher bill in the Tennessee General Assembly this year after it passed through a House education committee. The city is ordering schools staffers not to allow immigration agents to enter school buildings, New York City's mayor announced. The College and Career Readiness Indicators Report shows an increase in the number of students from the class of 2016 taking more college-level courses in high school and graduating with college courses.
