With Luke Johnson Sean Payton was the only member of the New Orleans Saints coaching staff who did not travel to Tampa for his team's shocking 9-0 win Sunday night, but you would've had a hard time convincing our columnist Jeff Duncan of that. When Duncan looked at that game, he saw signs of Payton's influence all over it. The swaggering sideline presence may not have been there, but the team played like it was enacting one of Payton's most consistent mantras: Do Your Job. The win counts toward Payton's ledger. It was the 150th of his coaching career. And, Duncan argues, it was "coaching excellence personified. Given the opponent, the stage and the circumstances involved, it was one of the best coaching jobs in NFL history." There was a lot more to follow up on from the Saints big win — which is not something you can often say about a game where neither team scored a touchdown. Bucs star Chris Godwin, who torched the Saints secondary in his 5-plus quarters against them this season, was lost for the year after he tore his ACL Sunday. Bucs coach Bruce Arians did not blame Saints defensive back P.J. Williams for the hit that hurt the wideout. C.J. Gardner-Johnson, as you might imagine, kept up his trash talk the day after the game. Maybe you hadn't heard much about offensive tackle Jordan Mills before he filled in as a starter the first time a few weeks back, but the Napoleonville, La., native is living out a childhood dream.
