Deputy First Minister says schools are "still safe" and will remain open this week

John Swinney has confirmed schools will remain open as planned this week, despite the huge changes to the government's planned easing of Covid-19 restrictions during the festive period.

He reiterated the schools were 'still safe' for children and teachers, and insisted children returning to school had been to government's highest priority since classes returned in August.
