Get the most out of the 2018 ACDIS Conference
Register for a pre-conference Boot Camp today!

For more than 10 years ACDIS has built a reputation on bringing the best education and cutting-edge case studies to the CDI community. Our 11th annual conference is no different. If you’re planning on coming to scenic San Antonio, TX this May, we have an event that is worth getting there a few days early to experience: The Physician Advisor’s Role in CDI Boot Camp.

During this intensive two-day class, attendees receive a half-day of instruction on the critical coding, clinical, and regulatory changes to the CDI profession over the past year, delivered by Nashville-based regulatory guru James S. Kennedy, MD, CCS, CDIP, CCDS. The second half of day 1 is a denials workshop led by Trey La Charité, MD, FACP, SFHM, CCS, CCDS, of the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, who will walk through his experiences with the Recovery Auditor program and discuss actual denied cases and appeals letters.
Attendees then can select their choice of session on day 2: Our popular Physician Advisor 101 by La Charité, which reviews the nuts and bolts of being an effective physician advisor, or a brand-new case study presentation by Nicole Fox, MD, MPH, FACS, CPE, associate chief medical officer at Cooper University Health Care in Camden, New Jersey. Fox will discuss cutting-edge changes to her CDI department, including expansion into the ambulatory setting, remote CDI, and point of entry CDI.

Take a look at a part of what she will be covering on day 2!

Beyond the Walls: Building an Ambulatory CDI Program:
  • Building the case for CDI in the physician practice and hospital ambulatory settings
  • Ambulatory review workflow and CDI responsibilities
  • How to provide assistance and oversight of E/M services
  • Designing physician education in the ambulatory setting

Nicole Fox, MD, MPH, FACS, CPE, is associate chief medical officer and medical director of CDI and pediatric trauma at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey. Currently, Fox leads a team of 13 RN CDI specialists who have achieved a 100% physician response rate to queries. In 2017 Fox received the Excellence in Provider Engagement award from ACDIS, which recognizes an individual who has made a substantive difference within their organization and the broader community through enhancing medical staff understanding, collaboration, and engagement.
