Dear John,

With all of the unrest and divisiveness in the world today it is clear we are desperate for the right kind of leadership. What is the right kind of leadership and what virtues, (besides integrity - this is a given), will the leader demonstrate in every interaction?

Here are my top 3:

  • Respect
  • Kindness
  • Humility

Why these three? Because until these 3 are present among all of the leaders at the negotiating table, no one will hear the other side. My proof? It seems like the opposite of these 3 shows up every time - Disrespect, Meanness, and Arrogance. Would you do a deal with a disrespectful, mean, and arrogant person even if they might have a few good points?

Remember, no matter how much you disagree with someone else you can still respect them as a human being, you can still be kind towards them, and you can be humble.

You are a Coach Leader!

Tom
