Growing up in rural Australia, I wasn't exposed to a lot of processed foods. My mother cooked simple, healthy food and my father grew a lot of vegetables. Processed foods were expensive, so most of our family meals were made from scratch. This experience of eating whole, natural, farm-to-table food inspired me to become a chef and still influences my cooking every day.
 
When I began writing and developing recipes for the Food Network and various magazines, I learned more about the challenges of cooking for the everyday family. I was able to combine my passion for nutrition, clean eating, and flavor with teaching home cooks the skills they need to feed their loved ones delicious, healthy food, quickly and easily.
 
Intro to Clean Cooking & Nutrition has 3 equally important components that will ensure the success of your clean eating lifestyle:
 
First, you will learn about the foundations of clean eating, how clean eating differs from the Standard American Diet (SAD), and why this lifestyle is ideal for you and your family.
 
Secondly, you'll learn culinary skills that will make cooking easier and more enjoyable—the same skills you would get at an accredited cooking school! I believe that food should not only be delicious, but also fun to prepare. Early on in my career, I fell in love with food prep as well as cooking. My daily challenge was to perfect my prep skills in order to get faster in the kitchen. I'm excited to pass on these hard-earned skills to you.
 
Last but not least is nutrition. Knowing what nutrients your body needs and how to prepare them is the key to enjoying food and effectively fueling your body. Here you'll learn how to read labels like a pro and balance protein, carbs, and fats for all-day energy and weight maintenance.
