Not much has changed since Greater Baltimore Committee absorbed UpSurge — yet. That's what GBC CEO Mark Anthony Thomas told Technical.ly reporter Anand Macherla, adding that the next three months is when leadership will be determining the "right path."
The move was technically an “asset transfer” that involved no financial exchange, and neither organization has staff reductions planned. UpSurge, a tech ecosystem nonprofit launched in 2021, is focused on retaining its image and relationships.
But leaders see several benefits of combining the organizations, they told Anand. UpSurge’s ties to early-stage founders, for example, pair well with GBC’s relationships with corporations, foundations and government agencies. Continue reading ...
Kilmar García's case and DOGE data
Alex Jones, organizer of the hundreds-strong Tesla Takedown protests in Owings Mills, is making the case that data acquired by DOGE enables forced deportations like Kilmar Ábrego García's.
“Our personal data and our taxpayer data, to be able to put that together with people’s statuses in this country so that they can more effectively persecute people who are here, regardless of what their status is, I find this incredibly dangerous,” he said at a recent protest in Baltimore.
