Oh hey, it’s the world’s coolest neighbourhoods
What makes a neighbourhood cool? A high flat-white-to-person ratio? Visible tote bags? Constant, ubiquitous jazz music? Or is it, in the light of The Bastard Virus, a sense of community, togetherness and local spirit? We think it’s the latter, and we have put in order what we at Time Out believe to be the 40 coolest neighbourhoods in the whole damn world. Did anywhere in London make the cut? Yes! Kind of.

Remember exhibitions? Remember dancing? Head to the Barbican to get to know the work of maverick dancer and choreographer Michael Clark. This is the first major exhibition to explore his work through film, photography, paintings and sculptures, as well as his legendary collaborations with cult icons like Leigh Bowery, Sarah Lucas, The Fall and Wolfgang Tillmans.
The best of the rest:
Home improvements If spending more time at home has left you feeling sick of the sight of your Ikea Billy bookcase, upgrade your flat with some bargains from Peckham Salvage Yard, open this Saturday and Sunday. Look out for twentieth-century furniture, rustic French homeware and reclaimed industrial fixtures.

Street eats New Things opening feel particularly cheering right now. It’s good news, then, that Broadway Market is trialling a new street-food market. Traders will be peddling their wares there for the next few weeks on Fridays between 2pm and 8pm.

Sweet treats Let’s face it: your enthusiasm for baking has probably worn off by now. Thankfully, some of London’s top chefs will be doing the hard work for you at London Bakers Against Racism, a virtual bake sale raising funds for The Black Curriculum. Get your orders in by 3pm on Saturday and they’ll be ready to pick up on Sunday.
