Hey there, folks. We've got data about another wave of COVID on the horizon, and readers have been writing in asking me what I'm doing to prepare. The short answer is, I'm doing what I've always done. - Eat lots of animals
- Move and play
- Sprint once in a while
- Lift heavy things
- Get sunlight
- Keep stress in check
- Avoid questionable food ingredients
You might know these as the basic principles of the Primal Blueprint. They've served me well over the years. I also shift my supplements routine for cold and flu season, whether there's a pandemic happening or not. How I Adjust My Supplements Routine for Cold Season I take Master Formula, probiotics, and an omega-3 supplement all year long to cover my bases. Starting around back to school time, I'll start building my system for cold and flu season with a few extra supplements. - Primal Damage Control. Our immune systems fight invaders whether we feel ill or not, and in general we're coming into contact with more pathogens during cold season. I use Damage Control to replenish the nutrients that get consumed faster during these times.
- Primal Sun. The UV index drops during the winter months, and so does your vitamin D production. I'm still getting plenty of sun in Miami, so I'm not taking it every day, but I do take it more often during the winter months. If I lived further north I would take Primal Sun regularly to make up the D.
- Adaptogenic Calm. Stress and your immune system aren't friends. I use Adaptogenic Calm to head off stress so that my defenses are available to fire on all cylinders.
