Here's what's going on in the market this week:

 

The S&P 500 and the NASDAQ closed with gains in Friday's sessions, helping to make up for losses the week prior. The Dow, however, closed .8% lower on Friday, it's lowest since October 27th.

 

Stocks are pushing higher in today's trading session. Dow contracts are showing a 0.5% gain, and S&P 500 futures are up 0.4%.

 

 

Investors are also anticipating a decision from President Biden on whether or not to keep Fed Chairman Jerome Powell as the head of the US central bank. Some speculate Biden may replace Powell with Lael Brainard, who's widely viewed to be more politically aligned with the administration's progressive spending agenda. The decision could hold major implications for the market in this holiday-shortened trading week.
