The age of Saban is over

It's the end of an era.

Or a reign of terror, depending on whether you're an Alabama football fan or not.

Nick Saban announced his retirement as the Crimson Tide's coach Wednesday, the news setting off shock waves across the sports world.

LSU fans rejoiced. Auburn fans rolled the trees in Toomer's Corner.

It isn't the end of Alabama football, of course, but it is the end of the Crimson Tide's current dynasty. There will be another coach when Alabama visits Tiger Stadium in November, no doubt a good coach.

But it won't be the same for Alabama ever again.

By the way, my advice to the man who wants to follow THE man: Run

Run the other way.

We've got reaction from across the sports world on the Saban news, and a photo gallery for you to thumb through as well. Something perhaps to help LSU fans who have grown to loathe Saban remember that he was once their coach, leading LSU to a national championship and two SEC titles from 2000-04.

Before the Saban news broke, the biggest sports story of the day on the LSU beat was that former Tiger (and Saban assistant) Bo Davis is returning to LSU from Texas. It's still very big news for LSU football, which has been doing some impressive coach and player recruiting since the ReliaQuest Bowl.

Speaking of impressive, we've got a follow story on LSU men's basketball's win over Vanderbilt on Tuesday night, and what that win meant to former Commodore turned Tiger Jordan Wright.

Finally, LSU women's coach Kim Mulkey recently weighed in on the Saints' controversial game-ending touchdown Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. As always, she has something interesting to say.

Thanks for reading and subscribing. Keep up with us ... who knows what sports news tomorrow will bring?
